The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II is a single-engine turboprop aircraft built by Raytheon (now Hawker-Beechcraft) in Wichita, Kansas. It is used by the United States Air Force for basic pilot training. The T-6A Texan II has a maximum speed of 316 knots or Mach .67 at high altitude. Its rate of climb is 4,500 feet per minute and has a range of 850 nautical miles. The T-6 is now the primary trainer and is expected to replace all the T-37s by 2008.
