The manufacture of the propeller begins with vigilant shaping of the blades as early day propellers had a more curved silhouette than their modern day counterparts. The Sopwith Camel propeller blades are then sanded numerous times to give the propeller a velvety smooth texture. The final step occurs when several coats of an oil based clear finish are hand rubbed on the wood to highlight the gorgeous laminations of the wooden propeller.

It recalls the early days of aviation when biplanes and tri-wing planes roamed the skies during WW I engaging in aerial combat. The Sopwith Camel aircraft was known to be difficult to fly but had excellent maneuverability for that time and could reach speeds of up to 115 mph. Eventually 5,490 of the British fighter plane were manufactured and the Sopwith Camel has been credited with downing 1,294 enemy aircraft which is more than any of the other allied fighters.
