Product Description

Navigation Flight Trainer Software
Navigation Trainer was developed by flight instructors and pilots as a way for students to visualize navigation concepts while using the CDI, NDB, HSI/RMI, and GPS instruments. It is an excellent flight training program for student pilots and licensed pilots wanting to brush up for a review. This Windows-based program is so easy that no prior computer experience is necessary for use.

The multi-media CD-ROM begins with clearly, written lessons for the beginner with no navigational background. Lessons introduce new concepts in a building-block manner, and there is a logical progression advising the user where to go in the tutorial and when to proceed. The interactive equipment simulation provides "hands-on" experience with operating actual aircraft equipment. Colorful graphics present and demonstrate the topics in the simplest manner possible. The animation and sound narration help the user to quickly understand difficult material and help the user to more easily retain the information. Of course, there are quizzes at the end of each unit to test knowledge.

Navigation Trainer has five step-by-step tutorials. They are: VOR navigation, NDB navigation, using HSI & RMI, GPS navigation, and Airspace Classifications.

The VOR navigation tutorial takes the user through basic navigation concepts, aircraft equipment, and real-world application. Basic and advanced VOR theory, hands-on instruction, interception and tracking radials, finding position and situational awareness are all learned in this segment.

The NDB navigation module provides standardized procedures to make flying NDBs easy. This tutorial covers the use of aircraft equipment, homing, tracking, and intercepting NDB bearings.

Once you have mastered VOR and NDB navigation it is time to learn the HSI and RMI instruments found in high performance aircraft. The indepth instruction on these instruments reinforces real-life navigation scenarios and position finding.

The GPS navigation tutorial explains the satellite system and terminology in detail while providing use of an interactive simulation of a panel-mounted GPS receiver. An actual "flight" from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Champaign, Illinois gives the user indepth knowledge of GPS navigation.

Understand the complex airspace structure of the United States with the Airspace Classification module. The user will learn everything from Class A airspace to Class G, including Special Use Airspace, Military Training Routes, TRSA, and much more. The user learns from aeronautical chart explanations, callouts, and will come to understand the legal ramifications of different airspace types.

Navigation Trainer is so jammed packed full of information, every pilot should own a copy. The software more than pays for the investment with time saved learning these concepts on your own. Save the valuable time with a flight instructor for real flying. Shipping weight is calculated at 2 lbs.

System Requirements: Windows 95, or 98 or higher, 486 or faster, 8 MB RAM, CD-ROM drive, 2 MB free hard drive space, video supporting 256 colors, and sound card.
