The MH-53J is a heavy-lift helicopter that is currently the largest, most powerful and technologically advanced helicopter in the U.S. Air force. It is equipped with terrain-following and terrain-avoidance radar with forward looking infrared sensors. This allows the helicopter to follow terrain contours and avoid obstacles making low-level flight possible. The MH-53Js main mission is to drop off supplies and pick up special forces who are behind enemy lines. Engaging in combat search and rescue missions the helicopter is armor plated and can transport 38 troops and carry up to 20,000 pounds. Tops speed is 165 mph and the Pave Low can reach altitudes up to 16,000 feet.
