Copper Airplane Weathervanes – This copper J-3 Cub Airplane Weathervane is an exquisite rendition of the Piper J-3 Cub airplane. The Piper Cub Airplane Weathervane is a full bodied weathervane handcrafted in the U.S. and each one is meticulously made in the old world tradition.

The labor intensive process begins by carving the design in wood and then making a mold. Sheets of copper are then cut and hand-hammered to the shape of the mold. The pieces are then soldered together and hand polished for a beautiful bright, copper finish. The copper, if left untreated, will weather naturally to verdigris. Each weathervane is signed, dated and numbered by the artisan craftsman.

The airplane measures about 31 ½" by 20" and arrives with a steel roof mount. The moveable propeller is made from brass and the protruding cylinder heads are lead. The 26" roof stand is painted steel and the 3" cardinal letters are cast black aluminum.
