Red Baron Balance Sculpture

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Aviation Gifts: Our Red Baron Balance Sculpture is more than just great airplane decor. The Red Baron Balance Sculpture is also art. This Red Baron Balance Sculpture is based upon Manfred von Richthofen’s “Flying Ace” statue in 1917 and is an authentic reproduction of a balance figure from the Victorian era. Objects that inspired and demonstrated aspects of science were popular during Victorian times. People loved figures doing things that seemed impossible. These balance figures were originally called skyhooks, simple counter-weighted figures which could be set on a shelf or the rim of a table, and set in motion to everybody’s delight and amusement. When put in motion the rocking plane will stay balanced on its base and the pilot moves back and forth in the cockpit as if experiencing natural air currents.
Even better is that this special edition sculpture is hand crafted from recycled metal. The piece starts by being hand forged and is colorfully hand painted. In the final step of production it is then hand waxed to give the sculpture a warm, subtle shine. The airplane measures about 9 ¾" nose to tail with an 8 ½" wingspan, and the sculpture stands about 17 ¼" high. The Red Baron Balance Scuplture arrives with a numbered metal tag confirming that it is made as a special edition. Shipping weight is calculated at 5 lbs.
